Capacity Building Training · Climate Action
Building Awareness · Inspiring Action · For a Sustainable Tomorrow
It was a great interaction with youth during the One-Day Capacity Building Training for Climate Resilience Action Change-Makers, held with a participatory approach at Bhitai Farm, Berani, Taluka Jam Nawaz Ali, District Sanghar, Sindh — organized by Youth Dream Alliance (YDA).
About the Training
Climate change is no longer a distant threat — it is a present-day reality that is reshaping the lives of communities across District Sanghar and the wider Sindh region. Rising temperatures, recurring floods, extreme weather events, prolonged heatwaves, and the loss of biodiversity are directly affecting the livelihoods, health, and food security of thousands of families. Recognizing this urgent challenge, Youth Dream Alliance (YDA) organized a One-Day Capacity Building Training to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to become active “Climate Change-Makers” in their own villages and union councils.
The training was designed around a simple but powerful belief: real, lasting change begins at the grassroots, and young people are the most important agents of that change. Rather than a one-way lecture, the session followed a fully participatory approach, encouraging every participant to share their own experiences, ask questions, and take part in group discussions and hands-on activities. This made the learning practical, relatable, and rooted in the everyday realities that these communities face.

Key Themes Covered
Under the overarching theme of “Climate Change: A Global Challenge,” the facilitators walked participants through the science and the local impact of climate change in an easy-to-understand way. The sessions explored the causes and consequences of rising global temperatures, the increasing frequency of floods and droughts, unpredictable and extreme weather patterns, the melting of glaciers, and the steady loss of plant and animal biodiversity. Participants also learned how these global phenomena translate into very real local problems — damaged crops, water shortages, health risks, and displacement.
Importantly, the training did not stop at highlighting problems. A major focus was placed on solutions and responsibilities: how individuals, households, and communities can adapt, reduce their environmental footprint, protect natural resources, and build resilience against future disasters. The role of youth as leaders, educators, and mobilizers within their communities was emphasized throughout.

A Participatory, Hands-On Experience
What set this training apart was its energy and engagement. Through interactive exercises, group work, and open dialogue, participants were encouraged to think critically and to see themselves not as passive victims of climate change, but as capable problem-solvers. Team-building activities and energizers kept the atmosphere lively and collaborative, helping participants build the communication and leadership skills they will need to lead awareness efforts back home.
The training also connected climate resilience with sustainable livelihoods — including discussions on livestock rearing for sustainability — reinforcing the idea that protecting the environment and improving household incomes can go hand in hand. Participants left with a clear understanding of practical steps they can take, from tree plantation and water conservation to community awareness and disaster preparedness.

Recognizing the New Change-Makers
At the conclusion of the session, participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their active participation and their commitment to leading climate action in their communities. More than a piece of paper, these certificates represent the beginning of a journey — a network of trained, motivated young people ready to raise awareness, inspire their peers, and drive positive environmental change across District Sanghar.

Looking Ahead
Youth Dream Alliance remains committed to expanding these efforts — conducting more capacity-building trainings, establishing environmental clubs, and building partnerships with schools, government departments, and other organizations to scale up climate action. By investing in the knowledge and leadership of young people today, YDA is helping to build a greener, safer, and more resilient future for the generations to come.
Together, for a Sustainable Tomorrow.
